AFFIRMATIONS & MANTRAS
Mantras are specific sounds, words, or phrases, often based on vowels, that have a particular effect on your mind, Body and Spirit when done in a focussed and concentrated manner. They are based on the power of sound, they have been used throughout time by people from diverse cultures and civilizations. They can be used for a variety of purposes for various purposes Perhaps the most powerful way of using affirmations is to state them whilst looking in the mirror. Some of the most important messages you have received have been from people looking you straight in the eye. By looking yourself in the eye as you state your affirmation you magnify the importance of the message to yourself. I love and approve of myself Life supports me I attract loving and healthy relationships All my relationships are loving and harmonious I am the perfect weight for me Every Cell in my body vibrates with energy and health I choose to make positive healthy choices for myself My body heals quickly and easily
THE POWER OF YOUR UNCONSCIOUS BELIEFS
Changing and training your mind involves discovering how unconscious beliefs block your expression and growth in a particular direction in your life and relationships.
Your conscious mind is the tip of your mental iceberg. Your beliefs create your internal and external reality are located outside of the threshold of your conscious awareness. It is in your unconscious that childhood memories, experiences and reality creating beliefs are stored. Many people carry unconscious beliefs from childhood that limit their ability to be present, here and now.
If your life is based on childhood experiences or messages, you may believe that you are not worthy of being loved, or that life is a struggle, or that there is not enough. Perhaps you thought that you needed protect yourself because the world is not safe place, to the degree that these beliefs are unconscious. They become an operating system that determines and influences the choices you make now. Even if, at the conscious level, you say you want one thing, if your unconscious beliefs are in conflict, those deeply held unconscious beliefs will rule the day.

What are the Benefits Of Limiting Beliefs?
Some of your beliefs support you to open and grow, and others keep you stuck in an impasse. The key is to become aware of what purpose the conflicting, unconscious belief is serving. What is the benefit? What are you receiving that is more important than having the results you say you want?
Protection and safety: A habit or behaviour may give protection. It may allow you to to hide and feel safe. Perhaps Protection and safety are more important to you than reaching a desired result that you state you wish for. Being right: What is the benefit of not having enough time, money, education, intimacy or good health? How could these conditions produce a benefit? If you have an unconscious belief that you do not deserve affluence or are unworthy of being loved or successful, you will create it in the external world. No matter what you say, you will self sabotage and conclude that you are right about what you unconsciously believe to be true. Being right has a huge benefit .
Many people do almost anything in order to be right, including sabotaging your ability to have what you say you want. Avoiding pain: If you believe you are not worthy of love and that no one would love you, it may be that even if they did, they would eventually leave. The thought of a close intimate and loving relationship sounds pretty painful. Why risk being hurt if you are convinced of the result of them leaving? Why would you try? The pain of loneliness may appear safer than the pain of a broken heart. At least if you are lonely, you can keep it to yourself and no one else needs to know.
What is the truth here? Pain is pain, no matter the source. You are not really avoiding anything but maintaining the illusion of control.

CREATING AFFIRMATIONS
Seeking Truth
The simplest way to start writing affirmations is to write a series of ‘I am’ ‘I have’ statements that describe what wish to have or experience. Choose one negative thought you have about yourself and write down the positive opposite that counteracts that belief. Make your affirmations short so they are easy for you to remember Start your affirmations with “I” or “My", write your affirmations in the present tense. Write your affirmations in such a way that they focus on what you want, rather than what you are trying to avoid or eliminate from your life.
When you write your affirmations, write them in the present tense. Write as though you are experiencing what you desire right now. Use words and phrases that are typical of your own way of thinking and speaking. Use language and phrases that fit into your own way of thinking and speaking. Think about how good you will feel when you achieve your goals, and how good it feels to know that positive changes are taking place. If you have written, “I am a creative genius and I am always discovering amazing new ideas”, you might like to add, “I feel so grateful for all the inspiration that comes to me”.
Afterwards, be still and notice what bubbles up from the unconscious. Then write the material down, no matter how irrelevant it may appear.
The process is similar to free association. After you repeat this six or seven times, your column will contain a list of the major negative beliefs and assumptions you hold regarding your affirmation. When old Patterns are ingrained this process may have to be repeated a number of times before new beliefs are firmly established. The time required is dependent on the strength of the old belief, your motivation to change, and how often you use your affirmation.
When negative thoughts do not shift ask yourself the following questions: How did I obtain my self-defeating beliefs?
Most of your negative beliefs were learned in early childhood. Who communicated them to me? Is there any truth to them? Do I still want to hold onto them? Once you realise that you have a choice, you can keep the beliefs that supporting you, and release those which are causing you pain.
When you get stuck a therapist can serve as a guide to assist you through the process of growth and change. You will emerge victorious. Your journey is continually taking you in the direction of expansion and growth. This requires that you face up to your fears and be honest with yourself. It is difficult, if not impossible, to solve your problems from within the same box that created them.
Find someone who can help you see beyond what you perceive. A counsellor, a psychotherapist can help you tackle what might be deeply embedded, unconscious beliefs who can support you seeing what you are unaware of outside of your frame of thinking and belief. Breaking old patterns takes courage, commitment and a willingness to see yourself differently. Whenever you are confronted with conflicting results, ask yourself, "What is more important than having what I say I want?" Instead of coming up with a good story or an excuse, be willing to take responsibility and know the inconvenient truth, 'what have I been in denial about?' Truth.
